Pierre's Story

Pierre will go through heartworm treatment after
arriving at his foster  home in RI!

Pierre, now weighing just over 20 pounds on 6/23/10.  He is finally at his correct weight!

Pierre's story...

This young man was surrendered to our shelter on 4/2/2010.. just in time.

Pierre come to us in very bad condition.  He is about 9 months to 1 year, and the poor little guy itched so much, just constantly, and was missing hair all over.  His skin was so thick from yeast infection that his ears were heavy and his whole body was like a crust.  Along with his skin misery, he was very dehydrated, his temperature was higher than we like to see, he had an extreme amount of tape worms, tested positive for heartworms and weighed in at 12.7 pounds.
The one thing Pierre had going for him was a SUPER SWEET SPIRIT!!

April 2, 2010

it's his skin coming right off as we went.. ahhh feels soooo good!

About 4 days later....

He would hop around at first because he legs had not been used!

April 14, 2010.. getting a check up at the vet.. Look no crusty ears!! Weighed almost 16 pounds!

All was going well until April 21st, when Pierre didn't want to eat all of a sudden.  He tested positive for the Parvovirus.  We were heartbroken!  Treatment was started immediately, and after three days of IV fluids and antibiotics, his strong will pulled him through! 
He is as playful as ever, even more beautiful than before!!

Here he is on April 29th, weighing 17 pounds!!
